Jardí Borràs, Ramon

Tivissa, Ribera d'Ebre 1881 - Barcelona 1972. Physicist

Member of the Acadèmia de Ciències i Arts (1914). He was a teacher in the school of Electricitat de la Universitat Industrial (1917) and Professor of the University of Barcelona from 1930 to 1951.

He collaborated with Esteve Terrades and also with Eduard Fontserè in the Servei Meteorològic de Catalunya, he also worked in the weather forecast and seismic section from the Observatori Fabra. He was the inventor of a system that measures the rain intensity that is used in most of the world weather observatories and it is called with his name: Jardí (in USA it is used with a modification and it is called: Hudson-Jardí). He wrote about 30 publications and was a member of the Institut d'Estudis Catalans from 1926 until 1931.
