Anthropologist. He was Professor of anthropology at the University of Barcelona since 1941 and rector in the same university from 1963 to 1965. He was the director of the Centro de Genética Animal y Humana del Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas.

Anthropologist. Highly regarded Physical Anthropologist and teacher to a generation of physical anthropologists. He was Professor of Anthropology, President of the SEAB (Spanish Society of Biological Anthropology, 1978-1984), of IDA (International Dermatoglyphics Association, 1961-1971) and Honorary Member of the Royal Academy of Sciences and Arts Barcelona.

Primatologist. Professor of Psychobiology at the University of Barcelona and director of the university’s Special Centre for Primate Research at the same. His research in the jungles of Zaire and Veracruz centered around the relationships between the environment and the behaviour of non-human primates in nature, and the changes provoked in these relationships due to human activity.
